Dangerous Drug Attorneys

Highly Qualified, AV® Rated Lawyers

Pharmaceutical companies can be held liable when their prescription medications cause serious injury or death. Whether or not the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall, companies that manufacture drugs that cause injuries and fatalities may be held responsible for the damage caused by their products. Drugs with “black box warning labels” are known to cause serious side effects and injuries, but many consumers are not aware of the danger. When you call Shelton Davis, PLLC, your lawyer will work to hold the pharmaceutical company responsible for your injury.

If you or a loved one was injured by a prescribed or over-the-counter (OTC) medication, contact usat (601) 228-3166 to discuss the legal options available to you.

Serious Injuries & Medical Complications Caused by Dangerous Drugs

A number of drugs on the market have been linked to serious complications, such as heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, psychotic breaks, suicide, internal bleeding, gastrointestinal problems, and many other issues.

Our attorneys represent clients with injuries from the following medications:

  • Taxotere - Commonly used as a component of chemotherapy to treat certain cancers, Taxotere has been found to cause alopecia or permanent hair loss.
  • Actemera- Used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, Actemera has been linked to serious side effects such as stroke, heart failure, and death.
  • Zostavax - Also known as the shingles vaccine, Zostavax is linked to cases of liver failure, blindness, brain damage, and wrongful death.
  • Risperdal - This anti-psychotic medication is used to treat behavior problems in adults and children. It has been linked to gynecomastia in men and boys, lactation in women and girls, and early-onset dementia in adults.
  • Abilify - Another anti-psychotic medication, it is associated with impulse control issues, including compulsive behavior and hyper sexuality.
  • Zofran – This medicine has been shown to cause side effects that include blurred vision, temporary vision loss, difficulty breathing, lightheadedness, decrease in heart function, and attention deficit symptoms.
  • Low T (testosterone therapy drugs) – Drugs such as Androgel, Depo-testosterone, Testim, Testofen, and Andoderm are prescribed to men with low testosterone levels. They have been shown to cause an increase in the risk of heart attack, prostate cancer, and sleep apnea.
  • Xarelto – This blood thinner is prescribed to reduce blood clot and stroke risk however, it can cause irreversible internal bleeding, which has caused the death of some patients.

The FDA requires pharmaceutical manufacturers conduct tests and trials before a drug is approved for use. Unfortunately, the FDA relies on the manufacturer to submit information for drug approval. Often, the pharmaceutical companies seek doctors and researchers who will validate the safety and downplay risk in order for the drugs to be improved.
